Visa Requirements for India

All visitors to India require a valid visa, except citizens of neighbouring Nepal and Bhutan. The Indian government offers a 60-day, double-entry electronic visa (e-Visa) for citizens of 161 countries.

E-Conference Visa – 

To attend a conference/seminar/workshop organized by a ministry or department of the government of India, state governments or UT administrations and their subordinate/ attached organizations and PSUS and private conferences organized by private persons/companies/organizations.

Visa-Related Steps for International Delegates

For Seamless Visa Processing, International Delegates Are Advised to Follow the Steps Below

1. Register for ICW 2027
International delegates are advised to complete the conference registration process by 16.02.2027.

2. Submission of Passport and Personal Details
Registered delegates are expected to submit the required passport and personal details to the conference organisers for processing of government clearance by 15.03.2027.

3. MEA and MHA Clearance
The organisers will seek the necessary clearance for the delegates from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.

4. Issuance of Invitation/Acceptance Letter
After receipt of MEA and MHA clearance, the organisers will issue the official Invitation/Acceptance Letter to the delegate.

5. Apply for Conference Visa / E-Conference Visa
Delegates should apply for an appropriate Indian Conference Visa or E-Conference Visa using the official invitation letter issued by the organisers.

6. Visa Application Through Official Portal
Visa applications may be submitted through the nearest Indian Embassy/Consulate or through the official Indian e-Visa portal.

7. Submit Required Documents
Delegates should submit/upload the required documents, including:

• Valid passport
• Passport-size photograph
• Invitation/Acceptance Letter
• MEA (Ministry of External Affairs) clearance
• Any additional documents required by Indian authorities

Carry Relevant Documents During Travel
Delegates are advised to carry a copy of the visa approval, MEA (Ministry of External Affairs) clearance and the conference invitation letter while travelling to India.

Language, Time & Currency

OFFICIAL LANGUAGE

The official language of the conference is English.

TIME

India has only one time zone which covers the entire country. Indian Standard Time (IST) is 5 hours and 30 minutes ahead of GMT.

CURRENCY

The unit of currency in India is the Rupee where Re.1 is made up of 100 paisa. Bank notes are in denomination of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500. Please exchange your money for Indian money only from banks or recognized foreign currency exchange organizations.
